Fun Ideas For Team Building

If you are a business owner, sports team manager or just the leader of any specific group with aspirations of seeing improvement in your teams’ productivity some of these team building exercises may be of interest to you. These same team building exercises, when correctly used, will benefit and enhance the overall workplace environment with employees that are closer to each other.  Many ways exist to enhance team camaraderie. Some techniques are more effective than others but if you need to judge what kind of group you are trying to build your team from, you should seriously consider some of these ideas for team building…

- Case studies. If you are making your first attempt at finding the best team building exercises for your company or workplace this is excellent because it allows your whole team to work together in solving a specific problem which might test their abilities either individually or as a team. These studies are very effective when it comes to teaching your staff about working together before they even start being involved in some real life scenarios. You can use this particular activity to come up with improvements when it comes to problem solving, being analytical, making decisions, etc. One thing that you’ll have to ensure though is that the activity is related to the products that your company is offering.

- Outdoor exercises that can be used for the workplace. This type of exercises are going to be enjoyed by your employees because they’ll have the opportunity to have fun and do exciting activities outside of the office. One of my favorites is a treasure hunt, which involves multiple trips outside the normal teamwork area. Some of the other choices can be picnics, video making, cooking, etc. You should especially use these when you want for your employees to establish even better relationships between each other.

- Workshops. Just like outdoors exercises workshops have proven to be exciting and fun to try out at least. Most of the time they are being held off site and consist of a group that is concentrating on resolving a specific issue without any interruption. Some of the exercises, which will fall under workshops, are group games, customer interaction and commercial solving exercises, training programs, etc.

- The off road driving exercises are some of the most challenging exercises that your employees might want to be involved in. These types of exercises were only designed for men in the past but nowadays women also have the opportunity to fully enjoy them. Basically these exercises involve someone riding a vehicle and then driving it towards some of the roughest terrain. This is great if you simply want the members of your team to try out something that is new, refreshing as well as challenging.

- Minefield is known to be one of the most popular as well as the simplest team building exercises in history. Basically you can perform this either indoors or outdoors. You can place different kinds of obstacles that will be the minefield. (Be careful here, we don’t want any team member injuries, do we?) After the field has been prepared, form the group into mini-teams of two each. You can do this by drawing names out of a hat or flipping a coin to choose captains who then select their partner. Then, when it is time to play you’ll need to blindfold one member of each team. The blindfolded member should cover the minefield without moving or touching any of the obstacles solely by the direction spoken to them by their “sighted” team member. This type of activity builds trust between your team members and is always a lot of fun for everyone involved.

These are but a few of the ideas that come to mind when considering what is team building and how to go about it.

Sure, Team Building is a serious and, when properly conducted, highly beneficial endeavor for any organization but that doesn’t mean it has to be boring!
